Nutrition Analyst Level I

Background and Purpose of the Assignment
The UN World Food Programme (WFP) seeks a consultant to strengthen the capacity of government counterparts to undertake nutrient‑gap analysis, sustainable healthy‑diet analysis and related cost‑and‑affordability assessments. The role supports the development, refinement and institutionalisation of WFP’s analytical tools, including the Enhance platform.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Assess market‑based nutrition interventions and local food solutions.
Review data on household food expenditure, dietary intake, market functionality and food prices.
Analyse feasibility of meeting nutrition needs of moderately acute‑malnourished children and children at risk of malnutrition.
Assess nutritional adequacy of cash‑based transfers for nutrition and local food solutions.
Strengthen capacity and application of the Enhance analysis platform.
Develop and deliver training on cost‑and‑affordability analysis and intervention modelling.
Support WFP country offices and government counterparts in setting up monitoring systems for early warning and programme adaptation.
Prepare technical documentation, guidance, briefs, slides and reports translating analytical findings into actionable recommendations.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Graduate level (Master’s or above) in Public Health, Nutrition, Economics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Sustainable Food Systems or related quantitative discipline.
3‑5 years of professional experience in research and data analysis.
Experience with dietary assessment, linear‑programming nutrition modelling tools (e.g., Cost of the Diet, OptiFood) and GIS or mapping software.
Proficiency in statistical software such as R, STATA or equivalents.
Professional level written and spoken English; knowledge of a second UN language (French, Spanish or Arabic) is an asset.
